Rally policies

Fundraising policies

Last updated October 2026

Rally exists because people need help fast and give in good faith. These policies protect both sides of that exchange.

What you can raise for

  • Emergency expenses, housing and rent, medical costs, family hardship, starting over, divorce or separation, job loss, education, funerals and memorials, disaster recovery, community assistance, and other legitimate personal needs.
  • Not allowed: anything illegal, gambling, weapons, adult content, investments or business capital raises, political campaigns, and raising for someone else without their consent.

Review before publishing

Every Rally enters a review queue. A human reads it before it goes live. Campaigns that fail a required check are not published. Drafts stay private to the organizer.

Verification

  • A verified badge appears only after recipient verification has actually been completed and recorded by our team. It is never applied automatically.
  • Verification confirms eligibility to receive funds. It is not an endorsement of the story, and it does not replace a donor's own judgement.

Fraud, duplication and abuse

  • We look for duplicate campaigns, reused images, mismatched beneficiary details and reports from the community.
  • Anyone can report a campaign from its page. A campaign can be suspended while a report is reviewed, and confirmed fraud leads to suspension, refusal of payouts and referral to the payment provider.
  • Rate limits, server-side validation and permission checks apply to every write on the platform.

Refunds and disputes

Refunds and chargebacks follow the payment provider's rules. Where we suspend a campaign for breaking these policies, we review eligible donations and refund through the provider where the rules allow.

How the money moves

  • Donations are collected by an approved payment provider. Rally records the gift, the platform fee and the processing fee separately.
  • Available funds are paid out to a verified recipient account. Rally does not display money as paid out before the provider confirms it, and does not offer instant payouts.
  • If the required marketplace payment integration is not connected, Rally runs in a clearly labelled test mode and processes no real donations.

This page describes how Rally works today in plain language. It isn't legal advice, and the terms you accept when you create an account govern your use of the platform.
