Starting over after the fire took everything

We got out with the dog and the car. Everything else in that apartment is gone.

The story

At 2am the smoke alarm woke us up. We made it out with our dog and the clothes we were wearing. The apartment is a total loss — furniture, documents, my son's school things, all of it. Insurance covers the building, not our lives inside it. The Red Cross put us in a motel for a week. Now we're trying to find a rental we can afford while we replace the basics one piece at a time. Anything you give goes directly to a deposit and the first month's rent, which we can't cover until I'm back on full shifts.

How the funds will be used

Rental deposit and first month ($3,300), plus replacing beds, clothing and school supplies.
